Channel has a max safe navigation draught of 9.5m at low tide, the minimum safe under keel clearance (UKC) of 0.5m,
the maximum draught at channel is 10.5 m width of 140 and LOA of 230m. / water density : 1.018 to 1.025 / ISPS : Level 1 /

Tanga port is situated on the northern coast of Tanzania. Close to the Kenyan border.
Port limits extend from Lat 05 degree 00 5.8 long 039 degree 09.5’E to the meridian
of Long 39 degree 15’E, thence 180 degree to the parallel of Lat 05’S, and thence 270 degree to the mainland.
The Port is an integral part of a Rail-Marine corridor Tanga-Arusha-Musoma- Port Bell/Jinja (Uganda)The harbor provides safe anchorage for seven oceans going ships with length of up 213 meters and draft from 6.4 metres to 9.45 metres.Three anchorages can be used in outer harbor for vessel with depth of over 9.45 metres.
The least depth of the water in these anchorages is 13.72 meters.Tanga Port is the only other authorized entry point for oil imports besides Dar es Salaam. It has installed 3 flow metres each one serves a separate depot among the available three. The metres facilitate accurate reading of quantity of oil import discharged.
